The TMI Tag!

Alright, so I always see these tags they’re basically great time killers and also icebreakers. Since I’m new to HCBN and now I have a couple new followers from there, I thought, why not do the TMI Tag? That way, my new followers can get to know me, and hopefully I can learn a little bit about them too. This tag was posted from Astrid Stars!  So now, I am going to answer the questions. Drumroll please!

1. What are you wearing?
My PJs (It’s obviously bedtime..). AKA a Happy Valley Tshirt and Penn State Sweatpants.

2. Do you have any tattoos?
No I don’t, but I do want a little, itty bitty one. Maybe someday.

3. Piercings?

One in each earlobe.

4. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?

This is a complicated question. When I am in a rush and wake up late for class, I can be out of here in 20 minutes. If I have time an energy and just feel like primping, then it’ll be around half hour to 45 minutes.

5. How tall are you?
I think I’m 5′ 4”? I’ll ask my doctor next time I see her and get back to you.

6. Zodiac sign?
Gemini, baby!

7. Favorite quote?
Alright here’s some behind the scenes action. I just scrolled through my Quotes/Sayings board on Pinterest because I have too many favorite quotes. Here’s what I finally decided.

8. OTP (One True Pairing)?
Mindy and Danny from The Mindy Project. Ugh sorry I’m obsessed.

9. What are your fears?

I’m afraid of a lot of things, so recently I’ve been trying to face them. I fear failure a lot, which is why I’ve been kept in a box for so long. Now that I’m starting to branch out and do things that I want to do, failure is still a fear, but it is not holding me back anymore. I’m also afraid of creepy, crawly bugs.

10. Favorite TV show?
Pretty Little Liars. I’ve been invested in it for so long. GOD I JUST NEED TO KNOW WHO A IS ALREADY.

11. Favorite flavor of candy?
Green Apple or Watermelon

12. Favorite Song?
The Man by Aloe Blacc. He’s performing at our schools music festival next month so that should be awesome.

13. Last song you sang out loud?
Love is an open DOOOOOOOOOR.

14. A place to visit?
All the places. I have such a huge travel bug, but I never pursue it. Maybe this is another fear to conquer?

15. Favorite color?
Mint, teal, Coral, Red, PURPLE.

16. Have you ever been in a physical fight?
I have siblings… so yes lol.

Well that was fun to do! Little question games like these are always so enjoyable to do. While I’m off studying, here is your challenge, reader. If you are reading this, you have officially been tagged! Comment your answers to these questions, or blog and tag me in the post so I can read them!

Birthday Celebration: Everyone’s OOTN

Friday was Rachel’s birthday! She turned the big 2-0, so we all went out to dinner at Noodle’s and Company and celebrated like how good friends do! It’s so nice to celebrate with good friends. We had a mini photo shoot which was so fun and hysterical, so these are the shots from that! Here’s everyone’s OOTN from Friday!

Up Too Late and Not Thinking Straight

This week has been full of ups and downs. I’ve had a lot of great opportunities coming my way that I am very excited about. I feel like I am finally taking control of my life and I like the future that is ahead of me. I’m being spontaneous. I’m applying to do things and volunteering to participate in things, and not getting turned down. I’m going to be featured on some blogs and I’ll hopefully have solid plans for the summer. All of this is so overwhelming in the most wonderful way possible.

I don’t know if it’s this new low blood pressure thing that I have going on, or if this semester is just draining but this week, my lows were pretty low. I’ve been doing so well as to not feel as though I was inadequate in something, and this week, when those thoughts were to creep through, I felt as though they would swallow me, and I wouldn’t want to do much of anything. I’ve been sleeping so terribly too. The dorm room has never been very comfortable for me, so these waves or restlessness and not being able to sleep, is kind of normal.

Since the new year I have been trying to always see the positive in everything. I’ve been trying to keep my moral up and so far it’s been working. Now, however, I’m realizing that I can’t just recognize all the good happening, but also the bad. When I feel down and sad, I need to come to terms with it, and only then will I be able to push forth. That’s what the problem with this week was. When I was happy I’d be ecstatic and tell my family and some friends. When I was upset, I’d keep to myself. By Friday, I was all worked up. The sound of a pin dropping was enough to set me off or aggravate me. I don’t have to be strong all of the time. I don’t have to be strong for everyone. Only myself and everything else will follow suit.

Tomorrow is going to just, be my day. My little sabbath. I need to rest. I need to recuperate. I need to be me again. I may turn my phone off. I may lock my door. I may stay curled in bed all day. Whatever may happen, I’m going to just do whatever I want. It won’t be that much, but all I know is that tomorrow is going to be the best day of this week.

Favorite Things: Beauty Edition

It’s time for another Favorites post! I (think) the last time I did this was February, or very early March, so now is the perfect time to do another one! This Favorite Things post is some of my new favorite beauty products that I just started trying and now cannot live without.

Here are my Favorite things for this month!

Sally Hansen Strengthening Top Coat

Spring is here, and this is the season when painting your nails is the big craze. I personally love painting my nails. The big downfall of painting your own nails is that they usually chip after the first day (or if you’re clumsy like me, the first couple of hours). I found this top coat just laying around my house when I was home for spring break, and I took it back to school with me. This Sally Hansen Top coat is magical! I did my nails on Sunday, and they’re still pretty perfect and barely chipped. I feel like I found the Fountain of Youth, but for my fingernails.

Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner

I know the beauty rule, is to not wear liquid eyeliner everyday…but that’s what I do. I normally don’t have a problem with it coming off. The Master Precise it the best liquid eyeliner I have used in such a long time. This was a spontaneous purchase from CVS. I’ve been using the same Revlon eyeliner for about 100 years, so it was time for a new one. This eyeliner goes on perfectly in one swoop. I don’t know if it’s because I have perfected my skills in liquid eyeliner application, or if this is just the best eyeliner ever. I’m leaning towards option two.

Covergirl BB Cream

I used to be a huge liquid foundation junkie. It was kind of embarrassing, I would walk around looking like my face was painted and now that I look back on those dark ages…sigh. Now that my face has cleared up a lot, I wanted to start to ween myself off of liquid foundation. I like BB cream because it’s way lighter than liquid foundation by a mile and I like the coverage it has on my face. I picked up the Covergirl BB cream just as a trial run, and I have no real complaints. I do want to experiment in this newfound realm of BB cream. I’ll keep you guys updated.

Fancy Friends: Catherine’s Showcase

Here’s another Fancy Friends post! Last weekend, a bunch of my friends and I went to see Catherine’s showcase for her dance team, Rinca Na Leon, Penn State’s Irish Dance Team. Catherine has been dancing for them since her freshman year and she really has grown to love her dance team. There was a slideshow during intermission and before the showcase and Catherine was in almost ever picture. She is super dedicated and passionate about her performances and what she does.

Catherine killed it. The first number was a traditional number, and we were able to pick Catherine out from the beginning. Then, all of a sudden, they broke away from her, and Catherine started her solo and I almost lost it, I was so proud of her. We all cheered and screamed for her. She did such a great job. Guys, Catherine has calves of steel, and this is why. Her movers were all so precise and strong. I couldn’t be more proud of her performances that night. Rinca Na Leon performed a lot of traditional numbers, dances that the girls cheoreographed themselves, and non traditional dances as well.

So I know very little about Irish Dance. I actually don’t know a whole lot at all, and I could imagine, that unless you were a parent in the audience you probably didn’t either. What was really helpful was that after every number, the former president of Rinca Na Leon would come out and talk a little bit about the history of the club and how they’ve grown over the past couple years. It’s always nice to see success in things that started out so small. Now, Rinca Na Leon has sponsors and they even get their skirts hand made and shipped from Ireland! They’ve performed for the President of Ireland and on the football field with our mascot, the Nittany Lion. That’s pretty incredible

I used to dance back in high school, and now that I do it less frequently, I have to say, seeing Catherine up there on stage made me miss being up there too. I love watching my friends go out and do things they love. Great job Catherine. I can’t wait to see another show!

My favorite dancer, Catherine!

Everyone after the show!

Why We Shouldn’t Be Afraid of Turning 20

This year, I am more hyper aware of when everyone’s birthdays are because all I keep hearing is the Mid- Midlife crisis that everyone is having. “20 is the end of teenage years and the end of youth as we know it” is the constant thought process that has diseased the minds of 19 year olds about to take the leap into a new decade. And I do not want this to happen to me.

Having a huge crisis because you’re a whole year older is actually quite concerning. This is no surprise, it happens every year actually, your birthday is one of the most anticipated dates, so don’t let it take you by surprise. Being 20 is not the end. It’s a blessing. You’ve made it this far in life and you should not be taking life, or birthdays for that matter, for granted. You should live life to the fullest, but you already knew that.

Personally, I love birthdays. I get to see my friends and family. Now that school ends in May I get to be home in NY and so do all of my friends from home, so seeing everyone all together is a wonderful birthday gift in itself. I get cake. I get to share my birthday with my best friend, partner in crime, and twin sister, which makes birthdays all the more special for me. My birthday is always full of love, so why wouldn’t I love it.

Of course getting older is always horrifying. I heard adults pay taxes. But taxes or not, getting older isn’t something to fear, but to embrace. I am loving the older, more mature me. I stand taller. I do things for myself. I do more things for others. Getting older is part of life man, no need to run from it, because there’s no where to go.

So if your birthday is coming around and you feel a Mid-Midlife crisis coming on, squash that mindset like a spider and quick. Being 20 is going to be great. And so is being an adult.

Fancy Friends: Anna’s OOTD

My lovely friend, Anna, is so excited for this spring season. So what better way to express all of that happiness than through her outfit! Anna is the first in one of my newest segments here on the blog called Fancy Friends! I love when I see my friends being happy and doing what they love. So why not write about it! Just to show how much I love them.

My friends have been a wonderful and positive influence on my life, especially this year. I talk about myself and my thoughts here a lot (which I guess is the point of blogging? Maybe, I don’t know) but I wanted to take some time out, if only for a few posts to celebrate my amazing friends. They’ve been so supportive of my during this blogging journey and all of my other journeys, so why not give them a little love on the blog?

Today, Anna graced us with a lovely black dress and killer boots. Light make up and wavy hair. She donned an Alex and Ani bracelet so my obsession for those obviously grew tremendously because I didn’t know she had one and was hiding them from me! It’s spring time and Friday so why not get a little dolled up, right? And just look how happy she is!

Just Watched: Frozen

Do YOU want to build a snowman? Granted all answers may vary, but I know what I want to do, and that’s go and see Frozen again. Yes, world I finally went out and saw Anna, the new Disney Princess, and Disney once again, knocked it out of the park.

Things like Frozen with large, crazy, fan bases, I normally shy away from, because I don’t think the hype is as big as they all make it out to be, and while I don’t think I’ll be singing Let It Go on my walk to class ( even though Idina Menzel has the voice of an angel) I do appreciate a good movie.

Here’s something I do want to talk about though, how everyone was going crazy because she didn’t marry the guy she met that day. Spoiler Alert guys, he was the bad guy, he had alternative motives. Plus the guy she does fall in love with, she didn’t know him for very long either. Granted, I’m a sap for true love stories, so when everyone was raving about how True Love with a man is a lie in this movie (that was a little harsh, they didn’t say that, but you get what I mean) I was a little put off. Anna picking Guy #2 except Guy #1 wasn’t that groundbreaking. What WAS groundbreaking was that, she went to save her sister, and that’s what broke the curse. It wasn’t an act of true love that someone needed to perform on her. Anna went and performed a selfless act herself, even when she was at her weakest. Now that’s true love.

Confession Time. To me, the best part about the whole movie was the music and the movie score. Being a (former?) band member, I can’t help but fall head over heels with instrumentals and just music in general. Disney always has the best movie scores, and Frozen was no exception. If you find yourself watching Frozen again, I challenge you to try to listen to the background music. The instrumental version of Do You Wanna Build a Snowman was just perfect (gotta love brass choirs!).

Are you a die hard Frozen fan? Did you love it? Hate it? Let me know!

Do you wanna build a snowmannn?

Officially Spring! Some Thoughts and OOTD

I woke up this morning, looked out my window, and I felt like a little kid again. Outside is sunny and beautiful today! The sun is out! It’s going to reach around 50 degrees here in Central PA and that is a miracle in itself! This brutal winter has made spring a gift and I am so excited to bust out the shorts and lemonades and get this party started!

Spring is such a wonderful time to start over. Sure there’s pollen and allergies, but there’s also flowers and warm weather! I always loved the spring, and since this winter felt like an eternity, I’m so glad warm weather is on its way! I’m not a winter hater, I actually like the snow and how beautiful it is, but this winter, I have to admit has been quite brutal.

All the more reason for a Spring Inspired OOTD! Today I couldn’t help but wear short sleeves, I think I’m cursed. I’ll probably throw on a cardigan or something before I run out but for right now, todays OOTD is a loose mint tee, a chunky infinity scarf, jeans, and combat boots. I love the cool color blocking that my blue infinity scarf has in contrast with the mint tee. It’s something I wouldn’t normally have done but now I’m glad I did.

Today I’m trying out a different CoverGirl Smoochies lip balm color (because I left my old one at home….sigh). This one is very, very red, but so far, so good! I love the color and today, I wanted to be a little bold so here we go CoverGirl.

These glasses are not a Fashion Statement. I legitimately cannot see.

A Bloglovin’ S.O.S.

Since joining Her Campus I’ve found all of these wonderful blogs and talked to wonderful bloggers! Some of them sadly, aren’t on WordPress so it’s really hard to keep up with what they’re posting.

So along came Bloglovin’.

If you noticed I now have a Follow me on Bloglovin’ button, but don’t let that fool you, I have no idea how to use this platform at all. (you can still go ahead and follow though, if that tickles your fancy!)

So this is my SOS to all of you Bloglovin’ bloggers. I need the rundown on how to use Bloglovin’ because, like with every new social media platform, starting a new one is quite overwhelming.

If you have any basic tips or lowdowns on how to use Bloglovin’ let me know!
